What are your frequent flyer goals with Aeroplan? Do you have a dream destination in mind?
I just finished an amazing 6-week trip with my family booked with Aeroplan to Sydney and 2 stopovers in New Zealand all for under $1,000 for my family of 4!
The flights would have cost nearly $8,500 if I used Google Flights.
Aeroplan will be introducing a campaign that will encourage all Aeroplan Members to share how they want to use their miles.
My next Aeroplan goal is to visit Melbourne for the Australian Open (big tennis fan)! I am not sure I can handle the heat but it would be fun.
Thanks to Aeroplan, I am having a contest where the only requirement is to comment and share your Aeroplan goal.
Someone will win 1,000 Aeroplan miles!
Just name where is your dream destination with Aeroplan.
This contest will end April 10, 2015.
Here is a link to the Aeroplan goals promotion. Once the member has shared their goals with Aeroplan, they will use this important data to create a more personalized experience for them with targeted opportunities for members to engage with the Aeroplan program.
Aeroplan just announced that Aeroplan Members can now use their miles for the Premium Economy cabin on applicable Air Canada flights when booking both ClassicFlight and Market Fare Flight Rewards.
Introduced in 2013, Air Canada’s Premium Economy is a new class of travel, where passengers can experience superior comfort in a dedicated cabin, with premium meal service, enhanced amenities and priority airport services. Available on select routes, Premium Economy features a larger seat with more recline and extra legroom, giving passengers more space to stretch out and get comfortable.
“We are excited to provide our members with even more choices when it comes to reward travel,” said John Boynton, Chief Marketing Officer, Canada, Aimia. “Travel continues to be the most popular reward option at Aeroplan. We’re listening to our members to ensure that Aeroplan offers better value to get members the flights they want, to the places they want to experience so that we remain the travel rewards program of choice for Canadians.”
For example, members can fly from Canada to Paris or London in Premium Economy for 75,000 miles for a ClassicFlight Reward plus applicable taxes and fees. Visit aeroplan.com for more details and flight reward options.
Aeroplan has invested significantly in the last few years to provide members with a world class flight redemption experience from the launch of Market Fare Flight Rewards in 2014, giving members notably improved value with all members having access to mileage levels reduced up to 20 percent and Distinction members enjoying reductions up to an additional 35 percent, one-way flight rewards on Air Canada and any of the 27 other Star Alliance member airlines to more complicated routings involving multiple countries and free stop-overs.
As part of the new Air Canada Altitude privileges effective March 1, 2015, the ClassicFlight Reward carrier surcharges (YQ only) will be waived for all Air Canada Altitude members for travel within Canada and between Canada and the U.S. This is applicable on flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Express and Air Canada rouge.
Furthermore, the ClassicFlight Reward carrier surcharges (YQ only) will be waived for Air Canada Altitude Super Elite 100K members for travel between Canada and other international destinations. This is applicable on flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Express and Air Canada rouge.
If you are an Air Canada Altitude member making an eligible ClassicFlight Reward booking which includes a child, please note that due to technical difficulties you may be charged the carrier YQ surcharge. However, you may complete your booking and the surcharge will be automatically refunded within 3 business days. You will also receive a new itinerary receipt showing the adjustment within that same period. There is no need to contact the Aeroplan Contact Centre to request the refund.
As a family man with 2 girls I can’t do these as they only have trips for couples – note to Aeroplan!

Here are some examples of Aeroplan partners that fly to Europe with no fuel surcharges:
Lot.
They fly to Warsaw direct from Toronto, and here is a great way to get to Europe for cheap.
You can also look for the United flight from LOT to Warsaw from Chicago.
Toronto to Warsaw
As you can see the fee is only $250!
Swiss Air / Turkish Airlines / United:
Here is an example of another cheap ticket – all these airlines do not charge fuel surcharges. Just $138 return for a business class ticket!
Swiss Air / Turkish / United
Here are some destinations with Swiss Air (you can only fly Montreal to Zurich directly), Boston, Chicago, LA, Miami, New York, Newark, San Francisco to Zurich.
You will have to find an Air Canada or United flight to these cities to get a great deal to get to Zurich.
Turkish Airlines flies from Chicago, Houston, LA, Montreal, Toronto, New York and Washington to Istanbul.
United flies so many places in Europe (none from Canada), here are just a few examples from Newark: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Frankfurt, Geneva, Lisbon, Manchester, Rome, Stockholm, and Zurich (lots to choose from)
Scandanavian Airlines:
This works out well for you going to Oslo or Stockholm or Copenhagan. Just $152 return!
Here are some airports that this airline flies into (none in Canada – have to go through the US):
Chicago to Copenhagen or Stockholm
Newark New York to Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm
San Francisco to Copenhagen
Washington DC to Copenhagen
Remember we are all in this together, feel free to post any other good city pairings to search for.
I tried to give some concrete examples where Aeroplan was still a great deal to get to Europe.
